ILLUMINATED RIVER
The Illuminated River Project is a long term art installation which spans across nine bridges in central London. Our task was to compose a piece of festive music inspired by one of the bridges.
I used the history of Blackfriars Bridge as a railway bridge to inspire my work. I had the image of a father coming home to see his family at Christmas. I decided to give the piece a chugging bass line formed between the cello and double bass, creating a train-like feel. I quote the well known Christmas tune ‘Deck The Halls’, using the original melody as well as developing it and forming my own motifs out of it.
